Rose Hips

When I cut these hips, the leaf buds were starting to show a bit. Spring is coming.

  3. Bill - I just discovered your blog today by some lucky trail that I can not easily retrace. I love your work. It makes me think of Fairfield Porter's- one of my favorite painters. I hope you don't mind that I say that. But your freedom with all those gorgeous blues- very much your own. They sing in the cloudy northwest. Thanks for sharing these. I can smell the juicy hips! and hear the hum of the wires above your streets. Very inspiring and elegant.

  4. Anne, Welcome and thanks so much for your lovely comments. I'm flattered that you would mention me in the same sentence as Fairfield Porter. I admire his work. I saw a good bit of it while I lived in Southampton NY where he lived and painted. Thanks for reminding me of him.

  5. Back for another visit to these hips and other things and read about your stunningly difficult year. Seems like we sometimes get slammed in fast succession. It can be numbing - but it seems like you are not hiding from anything. I very much hope that your wonderful sight and steady stillness help you and your wife - and everyone who has been touched by these profound events. There is so much depth and love of nature in your work. I think you must be a tender and wonderful person.
